Tree Climbing (Arboriculture) should only be carried out by specially trained and qualified personnel, to enable the work to be carried out in a safe and controlled manner.

Mobile elevated work platforms should be used where possible. However due to frequent access restrictions, unsuitable terrain, and disproportional cost benefits, trees are most commonly worked on with the aid of rope & harness and the use of specialist lowering devices carried out in accordance with the Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998
